Endorsement Alert: Mike Foley, former GOP Congressional Candidate

Mike Foley ran against Tom Emmer in the Republican primary for Minnesota's 6th Congressional District. A few weeks ago, he sat down with me over lunch. Today, he’s supporting my campaign for the state house seat, even as a Democrat.

I’d never ask him to become a Democrat, just like I’m not asking any of you. This campaign isn't about which party wins. It's about bringing this district back together, because right now we've got neighbors who've stopped talking to each other over politics, and that's not who we are.

Mike's tired of politicians who spend more time fighting each other and repeating party talking points than solving problems for real people. So am I. I spent years in the party Mike ran in too, back when it still argued about roads and water systems and school budgets, not about who could yell the loudest on cable news. That's not the party I left. That's the party I'm still trying to bring back into the room.

If you're a Republican who feels like your party left you, I understand that better than most. I've been there. It's okay to vote for the person instead of the party. Nobody's asking you to switch teams. We're asking you to back someone who'll actually show up for this district.
