A Primary Recovery

I'm sure a lot of us are a little groggy this morning if you stayed up watching results like I did. Some of what I saw was interesting.

Start with Mike Lindell losing to Lisa Demuth. I wasn't hoping for a different outcome, but I won't pretend I didn't enjoy seeing the Trump-endorsed candidate lose. What baffles me is that he lost while Tom Emmer won by such a wide margin. One yes man lost. Another yes man won big. I guess we'll never understand the MAGA mind.

Peggy Flanagan put a whoopin’ on Angie Craig, which surprised some people. What I did like was watching the two camps come together at the end of the night and say how important this election is.

One thing is certain. The Minnesota GOP will need a new leader in the House. That's bad news for Ramsey and Andover. We've been represented by someone who cares more about his party standing and his next rung on the ladder than about the people who actually elected him. If Niska heads back to St. Paul, with Demuth out, logic says he'll be next in line to lead the House GOP.

I want to say something every candidate says every election: this is the most important election in Minnesota history. There are two very different paths forward. One is about inclusion, about letting you live your life. The other is about control and exclusion. Politics has gotten too political. It's become about party loyalty instead of the people back home. That's what I'm running to change. We need a representative who actually listens, who isn't climbing a ladder toward some higher office. We need a neighbor. A friend. Someone who has your back.
